Religious Education (RE)

At Birch Copse, we believe that it is important for all our children to learn from and about religion, to help them to understand the world around them. Religious Education promotes respect and open-mindedness towards others with different faiths and beliefs and encourages children to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection. Through our RE curriculum, our aim is for children to:
- gain key knowledge and an understanding of the key elements of the world’s major religions
- have an appreciation of the different viewpoints and beliefs of others
- be aware of some of life’s big questions and be happy discussing them

We deliver Religious Education in line with the Pan-Berkshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. By following Discovery RE, Birch Copse ensures that our children know about and understand a range of religions and world views, are able to express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and world views, and gain and use the skills needed to engage with religions and world views.
