The Year 5 & 6 girls football team played their first matches of the year on the last afternoon of half term and they did really well! It was the County cup groups stages against 4 other schools and we played them all as a mini-tournament at John Rankin School in Newbury.
We started well with a 2-0 win against Francis Baily followed by a 6-0 victory against Kintbury Primary before succumbing to our first defeat (5-0) against a strong John Rankin team. Our final match against Parsons Down School was very close. Birch Copse took the lead about halfway through the game and managed to hold on to the win with some really excellent defending.
This means the girls finished second in their group and progress through to the knock-out stages of the County Cup in the spring term. Well done to the whole team!
