On Wednesday 8th November, Birch Copse Glee Club took part in the annual Berkshire Music Trust Junior Music Festival. This took place at The Hexagon in Reading, where the children sang a selection of songs with children from other local schools. This year’s theme was ‘Rainforest Rumble’, which focused on our planet, the sad destruction of species and rainforests, and also what we can do to help our world. The children had 15 songs to learn, many of which involved singing in two parts. This was challenging, but true to Birch Copse school values, the children persevered and did a brilliant job. After a three hour rehearsal at The Hexagon, they enjoyed a lovely three course meal at Zizzis, before heading back to The Hexagon for the final performance.
A huge thank you must go to Mrs Rose, who did the vast majority of paperwork for the trip, and also accompanied us on the day. Thanks, too, must also go to Mrs Turner who helped us walk to Zizzis and back, and also watched us in the audience with Mr Micklewhite. Thank you too, to all parents and carers for supporting your children in learning the songs. It truly was an unforgettable day, and one which the children will remember for many years to come. We are already looking forward to next year!
