Cricketing Success

Congratulations to both our girls and boys Year 5&6 cricket teams who represented the school at the recent West Berkshire Cricket Tournaments.

On Thursday 20th June, our girls team played in their competition. We were placed in a group with five other schools and we played each of them. The girls played really well - for some of them, it was the first cricket matches they had played and we could see them progressing throughout the day. Birch Copse won 3 and lost one of their games, finishing second in the group before winning in the third/fourth place play-off game. The girls finished third overall - a great achievement.

On Tuesday 25th June, the boys team played. The group stages saw Birch Copse play three different schools and the team achieved three comprehensive wins putting us in the final. Hungerford were our opponents and they also had a very good team. The match was tight and went down to final over. Unfortunately Birch Copse lost by 3 runs, finishing second overall but qualifying for the County Finals where the team will be one of two representatives from West Berkshire.
